The tap program at SCCDT is designed to train dancers in musical theater tap and modern tap styles with a graded curriculum. You can't help but smile when you take a tap class. Tap is fun, and a wonderful way to develop musicality and rhythm in dancers. Our tap classes are taught using class tap class music and contemporary christian music with lyrics which inspire.
Tap add on to Next Steps Classes
Children in our Next Steps ballet classes have an option of "adding on" a tap class which immediately follows the ballet class. This fun intro to tap class performs in the end of the year production and is a great addition to the ballet class. Class length 15 min. Requires additional tuition. Also, an additional costume fee is required for the end of the year show.Tap 1 or Tap 2 add on to Ballet or Jazz Classes
Beginning/ Advanced beginning level tap is taught in addition to a ballet or jazz class. Dancers get started right away on tap technique as they are already warm from their previous class. Class length 30 min. Requires additional tuition. Also, an additional costume fee is required for the end of the year show.Upper level tap classes - Tap 2, Tap 3, Tap 4.......
Experienced tap dancers take classes in our tap program, which is divided by level. These classes are designed to challenge and inspire, for students to progress in their style, performance and tap technique. Class length 45 min.
Tap students should wear tan tap shoes and knee-length black dance pants with their class leotards. Upper level tap class students should wear black leotards. Tan tights should be worn for performances. Hair should be securely fastened away from the face.
